Ways to protect your data
Antiviruses/Firewalls: These programs are able to detect malware, adware and other viruses, removing them as soon as they are discovered which prevents damage to any data. They are also able to monitor the network and block unwanted intrusions. Additionally, make sure these softwares are up to date. Some examples include Avast!, AVG and Rising.
Authentication/Passwords: Many devices are able to use passwords in order to secure information within said device. After being idle, devices may require for re-authentication adding additional security. By compressing the files using a program such as WinRAR the user is able to add a password to their files. Also make sure that these passwords are strong and secure.

Steganography: This is a technique which enables the user to hide data in other forms of data such as a text file within an MP3 file or a message in an image.
Protecting Devices: It is also advisable to make sure the devices you use are protected especially if in public. Leaving a phone or laptop without a password can give others the opportunity to steal your data.
